The prepayment form occurs when the negotiated value, whether full or partial, is sent to the exporter before the goods are shipped.  It is the secure payment method for the exporter.  The relevant information about the operation is detailed in an invoice and / or a commercial agreement previously signed.

This form of payment takes place in long-term commercial relations to guarantee production or price of raw material, or when this is the only modality accepted by the exporter.  

Cash payment 

For this type of operation, the Brazilian importer sends a purchase order to the exporter abroad.  Subsequently, the exporter sends an invoice or commercial agreement to the importer in Brazil containing the negotiated conditions. 

After this stage, the exporter ships the goods and sends the required documentation to the remitting bank abroad, which in turn sends the documents to the collecting bank in Brazil. Then, the exchange process and payment are carried out.

Term payment 

In this type of operation, after receiving the purchase order, the exporter abroad contacts the importer to define the negotiated terms, which are confirmed by sending the invoice to the importer.  After the goods are shipped, the exporter sends the necessary documentation for their release to its remitting bank in Brazil, accompanied by a credit document (withdrawal). In the term collection, the documents are released after the importer has accepted the withdrawal (security). After the nationalization and release of the goods with the Federal Revenue Service, the D.I. (Import Declaration) is issued. After the document is released, the buyer is authorized to close the exchange rate and make payment to the seller.
